Navigators of
biomedical language.
A team of linguists, translators and doctors that since 2010 has been building the reference terminology resources for scientific communication.
professionals
in lexicography.
We are professionals in lexicography, terminology, translation, writing and editing, specialised in the field of biomedical sciences. Our goal is to promote scientific communication of the highest quality and to facilitate access to biomedical information in different languages.
Medical language professionals spend a great deal of time searching for information scattered across the internet — information that is often essential for correctly understanding, writing or translating a text. For this reason, we decided to develop a library of rigorous terminology resources, continuously reviewed and designed for those who work with biomedical language as a profession.
The name
of the project.
The name Cosnautas® originates from Cos, the island where Hippocrates, father of Western medicine, was born, and from the idea of navigating the internet. The underlying metaphor: cosnautas are internet users interested in translating and writing biomedical texts, who turn to our resources for the information they need for their demanding work.

Equipping the biomedical language professional.
To provide tools, dictionaries and search engines that address the cultural and linguistic aspects of medical English, German, French and Portuguese, continuously refining resources, content and hyperlinks so that you become your own best professional ally.
Access to quality-verified content, from any device.
Effective search multiplies the professional's productivity. We invest in cutting-edge information engineering to optimise access to reference content, on all devices and in all languages.
Scientific and linguistic rigour. All our resources are the work of accredited professionals, continuously reviewed.
Tools designed for the daily practice of the profession: fast search engines, clear annotations, intelligent hyperlinks.
We optimise every second of the medical translator and writer's time. Less time searching, more time writing.
We engage with our users, incorporate their suggestions, and build an international community.
Fifteen years navigating.
Laura Munoa and Fernando A. Navarro found Cosnautas as a digital reference platform for medical translators.
Fernando A. Navarro's work, until then in print, becomes an updatable electronic resource.
Laura Munoa publishes this link collection, which becomes the compass of the Spanish-speaking biomedical translator.
We sign a strategic agreement with the International Association of Medical and Healthcare Translators and Writers.
We add Medizin (German–Spanish), MedLexic (English–French) and DDD (Portuguese) to our catalogue.
We launch Sinapsis, our first multilingual search engine powered by artificial intelligence.
The Libro Rojo marks twenty-five years since its original publication in print in the year 2000.
Behind each resource,
a signature.
An international team of linguists, translators and healthcare professionals. Each work bears the signature of those who sustain it.
Physician and translator. Author of the Libro Rojo.
Medical translator. Author of Árbol de Cos.
Editorial strategy and institutional development.

Knowing medicine is, to a great extent, knowing its specialised language — a language that has been evolving for twenty-five centuries.
What makes
it into the catalogue.
Every resource we publish, whether our own or under agreement, meets these four criteria. Without exception.
Genuine usefulness for everyday medical translation and writing assignments.
Quick access to information, intuitive navigation and effective search.
Accurate, current content, appropriately documented by accredited professionals.
Unique works of our own, developed from the experience of their authors.
Our project would not have seen
