Who we are · since 2010

Navigators of
biomedical language.

A team of linguists, translators and doctors that since 2010 has been building the reference terminology resources for scientific communication.

1 · Manifesto
About Cosnautas,
professionals
in lexicography.

We are professionals in lexicography, terminology, translation, writing and editing, specialised in the field of biomedical sciences. Our goal is to promote scientific communication of the highest quality and to facilitate access to biomedical information in different languages.

Medical language professionals spend a great deal of time searching for information scattered across the internet — information that is often essential for correctly understanding, writing or translating a text. For this reason, we decided to develop a library of rigorous terminology resources, continuously reviewed and designed for those who work with biomedical language as a profession.

2 · Etymology

The name
of the project.

The name Cosnautas® originates from Cos, the island where Hippocrates, father of Western medicine, was born, and from the idea of navigating the internet. The underlying metaphor: cosnautas are internet users interested in translating and writing biomedical texts, who turn to our resources for the information they need for their demanding work.
